Decorating Tip: Polo Shirts |
Here's a fact about polos: They are a staple product that can be sold to nearly every vertical market. Whether your client is in sales for a cell phone company or works as a personal trainer at the local gym, a branded polo will help others identify them and help them look like a professional. But when it comes time to embroider a polo shirt, you should consider decorating options. "The left chest will always be an important place for decoration," says Andrea Engel, vice president of merchandising. "But, I think some people are looking at options on the sleeve, the back and even on the hem, if the shirt is meant to be worn untucked. Ensuring that the decoration of the garment is understated, attractive and appropriate is especially important." And, subtlety often counts when it comes to putting a logo on a polo shirt. "If the garment is high-end, then the more subtle you can make the logo, the more the shirt will be worn," says Mary Ellen Pahlka, director of marketing and communication. "Size does matter - if the logo is too large, end-users won't like it. We suggest something more subtle on the sleeve or sometimes on the back of the garment. If the logo is going on a very nice polo, you might suggest a tone-on-tone, subtle rendition."
